BEGINNER LEVEL 2 – Lesson 11 for Students

LESSON 11: PRAISING GOD

VOCABULARY: armies, invade, terrified, tiny, battle

STORY: There is a man. His name is Jehosaphat. He is a King. He is the King of Judah. One day he heard that three large armies were ready to come and invade his land. He was terrified. He was terrified because his army was tiny. However, Jehosaphat knew the power of prayer and asked the Lord for help. Through prayer, Jehosaphat heard the Lord tell him to not worry. Jehosaphat did not have to worry because the battle was not his, but God’s. The people of Judah all bowed down and praised the Lord. When it was time to fight the battle, the army began to sing to the Lord and praise Him. When the army arrived at the battle they did not have to fight, because the other armies were already defeated!

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Today you are going to learn about worship. Write “worship” on a poster. Think about what it means to worship. Worship is not only singing. Worship is an important aspect of our faith and God wants us to live lives of worship. This means that we live our lives with Him in mind. When we focus our attention on Jesus, God promises that amazing things can happen.
  2. There are many examples of people in the Bible who live lives of worship. Today we will look at the King of Judah, Jehosaphat.
  3. Review the Vocabulary Words
  4. Listen to Audio 1 as you read the story.
  5. Listen to Audio 2 – Story with Questions as you read the story and answer the questions.
  6. Think about the story:
    •  Who did the army worship and trust in?
    •  Is worship only singing?
    •  How can we worship the Lord?
    •  Is it important to stay firm in our faith?
    •  Can we also worship through prayer?

7. Create prayer links: Ask family members or friends for their prayer requests. Write the prayer requests on several pieces of paper. Link them all together to show that we are all in this together. When we give our prayers to the Lord and trust Him, we know that he will handle them.

8. End class in prayer.
