INTERMEDIATE LEVEL 2 – Lesson 25 for Teachers

LESSON 25:  HOLY SPIRIT – PETER

VOCABULARY: vision, God-fearing, speak tongues, prophesy

STORY: There is a man. His name is Peter. Peter is a good man. He has a good relationship with the Lord. There is also a man named Cornelius. He is a God-fearing man. One day Cornelius had a vision. In the vision, an angel told Cornelius to find Peter and bring him to his home. Cornelius sent three servants to bring Peter to him. Before the servants came to get Peter, the Spirit spoke to Peter to tell him to go with them. Peter went to Cornelius’s house. Cornelius asked Peter to teach him about Jesus. Peter told the whole family about Jesus. He told them how Jesus is God, He died for their sins and rose from the dead. After hearing about God, Cornelius’s whole family believed and they all were filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they began to speak in tongues and prophesy.

(Who does he have a relationship with?) There is also a man named Cornelius. (What is the man’s name?) He is a God-fearing man. (What kind of man is he?) One day Cornelius had a vision. (What happened one day?) In the vision, an angel told Cornelius to find Peter and bring him to his home. (What did the angel tell him?) Cornelius sent three servants to bring Peter to him. (Who did Cornelius send for Peter?) Before the servants came to get Peter, the Spirit spoke to Peter to tell him to go with them. (What did the Spirit tell Peter?) Peter went to Cornelius’s house. (Where did Peter go?) Cornelius asked Peter to teach him about Jesus. (What did Cornelius ask Peter?) Peter told the whole family about Jesus. He told them how Jesus is God, He died for their sins and rose from the dead. (What did Peter teach Cornelius?) After hearing about God, Cornelius’s whole family believed and they all were filled with the Holy Spirit. (What happened to the whole family?) Then they began to speak in tongues and prophesy. (After being filled with the Spirit, what did the family do?) 

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Review the Vocabulary Words .
  2. Listen to Audio 1 as you read the story.
  3. Listen to Audio 2 – Story with Questions as you read the story and answer the questions.
  4. Have the students read the story on their own and answer these questions in their notebooks. Encourage complete sentences. 
    • Who has a good relationship with the Lord? 
    • Who is a God-fearing man? 
    • Who had a vision to find Peter? 
    • Who spoke to Peter?
    • What happened to Cornelius’s family after hearing about God? 

5. Read through the story together and answer questions as you go.  

6. Go over the questions they answered in their notebooks.

7. End class in prayer.
